In order to quote a damper we need enough information in order to build a structural model of the stack/chimney and determine it's natural frequency and dynamic behavior. Ideally we would need the shop drawings for the stack and any other information about major weights on the structure.
If you are a user of MecaStack then send us the MecaStack input file, it will contain most of the information that we need. If you don't have a MecaStack input file, then here is a list of the items we typically need:
1) Stack Diameters throughout the height of the stack.
2) Thickness of stack over it's entire height
3) Material of entire stack
4) Size of any major breach openings or nozzle (Dimension > 20% of the stack diameter)
5) Ladders and Platforms locations and weights
6) Are there any lateral supports on the stack? For example, is it braced against a building or structure, if yes then where?
7) Location of Internal and eternal insulation and refractory. Density, Thickness, Elevation(s) and Whether it is inside or outside of the stack.
8) Baseplate details
9) Any other major weights on the structure (Trays, internal flow dampers, packing, silencer, other)
If you have structural calculations on the stack, often these can be very helpful, especially if there are dynamic calculations. If you have a total calculated weight, that is also helpful to check against our own calculation to make sure we have everything included in our analysis.
